This is how I keep my hair color looking vibrant a This is how I keep my hair color looking vibrant and shiny! AD

1. Protect your hair from UV with shade and hats when exposed to the sun! ☀️ UV exposure can actually break the bonds used in hair color causing color to fade!

2. Use a color protecting shampoo with ingredients that rinse completely off the hair leaving the color vibrant and not dulled down. My favorite is the @colorwowhair Color Security shampoo… it’s a rich lathering, sulfate-free formula with no thickening or conditioning agents so that you get a completely clean rinse. Available @sephora !

3. Since heat damage can oxidize pigments and cause a dry, dull appearance I always go in with a heat protectant and blow dry on low heat from a distance of about 15 cm to protect the hair.

1. Using lime outside when exposed to

2. Stopping your retinoid during the summer months. Retinoids do not increase your sun senstivity and instead provide important skin benefits. BUT you should ALWAYS wear your sunscreen!
3. Forgetting the lips when applying SPF! this is a common place we see skin c@ncer!

Here’s how to build an evening skincare routine Here’s how to build an evening skincare routine from scratch!
1. choose a “first” cleanse to remove sunscreen and any makeup.
2. opt for a gentle water based cleanser.
3. choose a serum based on your concerns!
4. seal it all in with a moisturizer.
Pro tip: if you’re having trouble tolerating your retinoid you can apply it AFTER your moisturizer to curb irritation.
5. pick an eye cream based on your concerns

**Don’t forget to bring it all down to the neck and chest for the best results!

My favorite clarifying shampoos for removing produ My favorite clarifying shampoos for removing product buildup and effectively cleansing the scalp:

@k18hair Peptide Prep Detox Shampoo is pH optimized and color-safe, plus it targets heavy metals like zinc, cadmium, lead and zinc which can dull color and cause buildup.
@theouai Detox Shampoo is a great option for heavy product buildup. Nothing is left it’s path after a good lather!
@kristin_ess Clarifying Shampoo will give you a super rich lather and cleansed scalp at a really reasonable price.
@bumbleandbumble Sunday shampoo was the first clarifying shampoo I ever used and it’s still in my shower to this day!

These are 3 things that have dramatically increase These are 3 things that have dramatically increased the health of my hair over the last few years…

• refraining from tight hairstyles which were causing thinning at the hairline from repeated tension.
• using a clarifying shampoo every few washes instead of ignoring product buildup in fear of “over stripping”.
• blow drying my hair on low heat at a safe distance rather than allowing my hair to air dry every time I washed.

be sure to apply one good application of sunscreen in the morning, and reapply every two hours if you’re going to be outside or you have light-sensitive conditions like in melasma or rosacea.

always apply your sunscreen to your neck and your chest, as you can see by the last photo this woman has significant photo damage on the neck but her face is looking great!

In general sun sticks can be helpful for reapplication, but make sure you’re doing multiple passes over the same area! I don’t love SPF sprays, they don’t give the greatest coverage but anything is better than nothing when you’re in a pinch! In these cases, I would prefer to spray a good amount on my hands and then apply to my face when possible.

And be sure to follow @chooseyourglow for more amazing skincare content!
3 products that will change the game in your showe 3 products that will change the game in your shower routine…
1. A clarifying shampoo to use monthly or more to effectively remove product buildup. This can help with an irritated scalp and thinning appearance of the hair by allowing the scalp to appear more voluminous and “fluffy”.
2. A salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide body wash to apply after rinsing out your conditioner. Ever feel those little bumps (clogged pores) on the back? Our hair products can contain comedogenic ingredients so you want to cleanse the back and chest after rinsing them out!
3. A fragrance free soap option for the nether regions 😳 just trust me on this one 🔥
