Shopping for skincare can be frustrating if you ha Shopping for skincare can be frustrating if you have sensitive skin #AveenoPartner A goal of mine has always been to showcase that quality skincare should be accessible regardless of your budget or skin type. You will, however, need to spend a little extra care and attention if you suffer from sensitive skin!

You've seen me post about the Aveeno Calm + Restore Oat Gel Moisturizer before & now I've added the Aveeno Calm + Restore Triple Oat Serum and the Aveeno Calm + Restore Nourishing Oat Cleanser to my sensitive skin regimen. Aveeno is a brand I have trusted for myself and my patients for years. Fragrance- free, dye-free, and paraben-free, this line was designed for sensitive skin. With ingredients like oat and feverfew, I know my skin is reaping the benefits. P.S if you're an ingredient junkie like me you'll be wondering about the use of feverfew. Feverfew is a natural ingredient, long known for its soothing properties! What’s even better is that these products can be picked up at your local Target (easy to find in the Dermatologist recommended section) and even ordered for curbside pickup at some locations!

Want to learn more about Aveeno’s Calm + Restore line and its star ingredients? Check out my last post for an ingredient deep dive! @AveenoUS @Target #Aveeno #Target

#ad You’ve seen me post about the Aveeno Calm + #ad You’ve seen me post about the Aveeno Calm + Restore Oat Gel Moisturizer, Aveeno Calm + Restore Triple Oat Serum, and the Aveeno Calm + Restore Nourishing Oat Cleanser before and I want to do a little bit of a deep dive for all those who love ingredient education! #AveenoPartner

These products are fragrance-free and dye-free - but let’s take a look at a couple of star ingredients they do have! Aveeno takes its ingredients SERIOUSLY which is right up my alley.
Prebiotic Oat is a powerful antioxidant known to moisturize and soothe dry skin. Aveeno works with local farmers to source their oats and ensure that purity and therapeutic properties are preserved.
Feverfew is a naturally-derived ingredient proven to help reduce the appearance of redness and calm irritated, dry skin. Only feverfew that is grown on USDA organic, pesticide-free fields meet Aveeno’s standards.

Together these ingredients work to calm and nourish the skin! The lightweight Aveeno Calm + Restore Oat Gel Moisturizer is perfect for those who don’t like the feeling of a heavy cream moisturizer while still providing hydrating benefits. Use the Aveeno Calm + Restore Triple Oat Serum to strengthen the skin’s moisture barrier and the Aveeno Calm + Restore Nourishing Oat Cleanser to gently cleanse and hydrate. These products can be picked up at your local Target and even ordered for curbside pickup at some locations!

Is this product approved by Dermatologists? When Is this product approved by Dermatologists?

When shopping for skin care products you may have noticed statements like “Dermatologist Tested” or “Dermatologist Approved”… but what’s the difference? It can be confusing to the consumer so I wanted to break down a few common statements.

Dermatologist Approved: This statement means that at least 1 Dermatologist has approved of this product for use. Keep in mind that it is possible, and not prohibited, that this Dermatologist could be financially involved in the company.

Dermatologist Tested: This usually means that a Dermatologist has reviewed a clinical study of the formulation or the formulation itself. It is not required that the protocol of the study be approved by said Physician.

Clinically Tested: This means that the formulation or its constituents underwent some sort of clinical testing from irritancy testing to efficacy. This can infer a wide range of things so take care to read fully which PART of the product has been clinically tested.

Clinically Proven: This claim requires two controlled clinical studies. Again keep in mind to read thoroughly as this claim can be applied to a final formulation or just one or two ingredients or components.

These statements can be beneficial to help guide your decision in the right context. However, it’s always best to talk to YOUR Derm provider to understand what’s best for your skin type and goals.

No filter, no makeup selfie (Chapped lips and all No filter, no makeup selfie (Chapped lips and all 😂) because I’m getting a little sick of these crazy ig filters. Even the ones you think are just giving you a pretty hue end up giving you a weird nose job. Ugh.

Anyways, I have a Q&A going down in stories this morning! Drop your questions about beauty, skin care, [life] and I’ll get to ask many as I can! Your question might even turn into a whole post so don’t be afraid to leave a more broad subject matter!

See you there 💕

What are your wellness goals for 2021? Every year What are your wellness goals for 2021? Every year a make a quick list of things that are important to me. Without holding myself to any strict rules, I just like to envision what will make me feel like my best self:

1. Continue low impact resistance training like pilates.

2. Get OUTSIDE and walk a few times a week... even more for my mind than my body!

3. Try to limit wine and other alcohol. It just ends up making me feel tired and sluggish.

4. Don’t be hard on myself if I don’t make it to that workout. The stress is so counterproductive.

5. Find workouts me and the hubs can enjoy together.

I hope your Sunday was as good as my glazed donut I hope your Sunday was as good as my glazed donut 🍩
OH MY GOSHHHHH. I was inspired by (laughed heavil OH MY GOSHHHHH.

I was inspired by (laughed heavily at) @the.skin.snob & @dermdialogue to share a little about my skin journey.

The picture on the left was my 21st birthday about 9 years ago in Vegas. I went to tanning beds leading up to the trip AND got a spray tan on top of it. cringe. I am Greek and tan super easily. Back then I used that as my excuse that tanning wasn’t so bad for me . Wrong. I also frequented the waxing salon way too often as evidenced by my disappearing eyebrows. 🤦🏻‍♀️

The picture on the right is last week.

What’s changed?
1. DILIGENT SPF use and sun avoidance.
3. A primarily medical grade skin care regimen targeted to anti-aging.
4. My tan comes from a bottle now.
8. 8. 8. 8. I leave my brows alone most of the time and visit @mary____c___ every once in awhile to tame them a bit (and make them even fluffier).

What hasn’t changed?
1. I still love to play blackjack until 6 am in Vegas.
2. I still have that @lacoste X @catherine_malandrino dress that I spent my whole paycheck on.
3. I would actually kill for that piece of chocolate cake right now.
4. I still have the same man. Can’t get rid of that guy. 💍

ICYMI… your winter skin may require some extra l ICYMI… your winter skin may require some extra love and care. While your Summer skin might tolerate anything you throw at it, Winter time often requires adjustments to your regimen!

Here are a few things you can and often should do to your routine to make it Winter friendly!

1. Switch your gel moisturizer to something lotion or even cream based. Look for barrier repair formulations if you experience dry skin or irritation.
2. Decrease the frequency at which you’re using hydroxy acids and retinoids. Everyone is different so it’s important to find the frequency that works best for you.
3. Skip the scrub. I know it’s tempting to scrub off dry flaky skin but this can lead to further barrier impairment! Choose gentle chemical exfoliation as needed and up your moisturizer game instead.
4. Opt for creamy cleansers and take a break from the gel and foaming cleansers.
5. Continue your daily SPF!! UV rays penetrate clouds and windows and snow reflects up to 80% of UV rays!

What do you do to switch up your Winter skin regimen?
